GSSGG LOCAL RULES

  • Breakfast Ball - On the first tee, each player is allowed a "Breakfast Ball", commonly referred to as a mulligan.  This is the only hole a breakfast ball is allowed.  If the first hole is a par 3, a breakfast ball is allowed, but it can not count towards the "Closest to the Pin" contest.

  • Closest to the Pin Tees - All red tee players who have entered the Closest to the Pin pool are now allowed to stay at the red tees.

  • Preferred Lies - Because course conditions vary so much, the GSSGG allows a player one club length, NO NEARER THE HOLE, to improve their lie.  Exceptions are Penalty Areas (hazards) and Bunkers.  Waste areas are not considered a hazard, so a club length is allowed.

  • Hitting the wrong Ball - If a player inadvertently hits the wrong ball, he is allowed to replay the shot from the original position of the correct ball.  If the player continues to play the wrong ball, it is a two stroke penalty each time the wrong ball is struck.

  • Bunkers - Under normal conditions, rules governing play from a bunker apply.  If no rake is available, please care for your divot or footprints using your feet or a club head.  If your ball comes to rest in a footprint, or a previous player's divot, you may "rake and place", otherwise the ball must be played as it lies.

  • Cart Path Only - If we are playing cart path only, as directed by the course, bunkers are optional.  If only selected holes are CPO, bunkers are optional on those holes only.  If a player chooses to "opt out" of a bunker, the ball must be placed one club length, no nearer the hole, WHERE THE BALL ENTERED THE BUNKER.  Rake and place if you choose to play from the sand.

  • Giving Putts - No putts shall be conceded.  All players must putt out up to a bogey.  Max score on any hole is double bogey.  Players have the option of leaving the flagstick in when putting.  A ball striking the flagstick is no longer considered holed if it does not stay in the cup.
